	Alliance for New Humanity Conference Dr. Oscar Arias Sanchez to receive prestigious “2003 Pax Natura Award” at “Alliance for New Humanity Conference” in San Juan Puerto Rico, December 12th, at the Westin Riomar Beach Resort SAN JUAN PUERTO RICO: Dr. Oscar Arias Sanchez is a leader for the new millennium. As President of Costa Rica, he brokered the peace agreement ending the Central American civil war in the 1980’s and for his extraordinary effort was awarded the world’s highest honor, the 1987 Nobel Peace Prize. After serving as one of Costa Rica’s most beloved and admired presidents, he established the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress. In this capacity, he has been successful in helping several nations around the world eliminate their military in order to focus on the more pressing needs of our human family. Dr. Arias is also a very brave man. He has stood up to the world’s super-powers when they have clearly been wrong and he has been voice of reason, compassion and wisdom for decades. He has confronted injustice and wars in the spirit of non-violent resistance whenever these evils have arisen and has always had the courage to stand for truth and justice on many international issues. Dr. Arias is a beacon of hope for the world. The Pax Natura Award is given each year to that individual whose life work exemplifies the highest ideals of Peace with Nature. With the beginning of the twenty-first century, as our human family face countless environmental challenges world-wide, a universal declaration of Peace with Nature is taking form across political, religious, and social boundaries. Through this declaration we celebrate the inherent right of all living beings on this planet to live in harmony and balance with the natural world and we seek to redress and restore the beauty and abundance of nature. This declaration also acknowledges the organizing power and intelligence residing within natural systems and that human beings must learn to live in balance with the laws of nature. The Board of Trustees of the Pax Natura Foundation have voted to present the Pax Natura award for 2003 to Dr. Oscar Arias Sanchez in grateful appreciation for his courageous leadership in promoting peace among peoples and peace with nature. The award will be presented at a luncheon on Friday, December 12th, at the Westin Riomar Beach Resort, 6000 Rio Mar Blvd., Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
